Set in its own meadow with a tiny brook nearby, sheltered by beautiful trees where the birds sing and with the view stretching out over the fields in front, Stargazy Sky Shepherd’s Hut is a rare find. The meadow is part of a country estate where Ruby Red Devon cows are reared – a stunning sight as you come up the sweeping driveway to your holiday destination.
Take a leisurely brunch and laze in the swing seat as you gaze out over the landscape and listen to the sounds of rural Devon. You’re so close to the Trinity Hill Nature Reserve if you want to stretch your legs – perhaps popping into River Cottage for lunch, a short walk away or the 300acre organic Trill Farm. If you’d rather stay put, ask the owner about their home-reared barbecue packs, fruit, veg and eggs, subject to availability.
This is the view from in front of the Shepherd’s Hut – perched high above the Axe Valley that leads down to the Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis. It’s an easy location to reach yet under four miles from the sea.
You’ll want for nothing in this traditional yet bespoke hut, with all the mod cons for a luxury holiday; a proper bed with lovely linens, en suite facilities with hot shower, all the cooking facilities you’ll need and even a wood-burner for cooler evenings (and a fire-pit out front for staying under the stars).
